Privacy Policy & Terms of Service

NTA Therapy (‘we’, ‘us’, or ‘our’) is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of privacy and confidentiality for our clients. This Privacy Policy describes how personal health information is collected, used, and disclosed in the course of providing psychotherapy services in Toronto, Ontario.

1. Collection of Personal Health Information: We collect personal health information directly from you or from a person acting on your behalf. This may include your name, date of birth, contact information, health history, and records of the care provided to you during our therapy sessions.

2. Use and Disclosure of Information: Your information is used primarily to provide you with psychotherapeutic care. We may also use it to consult with other healthcare providers involved in your treatment (strictly with your explicit consent) and to comply with legal and regulatory requirements. We do not sell or trade your personal information.

3. Secure Technology & Telehealth: To maintain safety and privacy, all sessions are virtual and provided through the Jane App. Jane is an industry-standard platform that is HIPAA compliant and utilizes end-to-end encryption for both video calls and electronic health records. While we take every precaution to ensure data security, users should be aware of the inherent risks of digital communications.

4. Confidentiality & Its Limits: Personal information shared within a therapy session is confidential. However, there are legal limits to confidentiality, including: if there is a risk of serious bodily harm to yourself or others; in cases of suspected child abuse or neglect; or if a court orders the release of records.

5. Data Retention: In accordance with professional regulations in Ontario, client records are maintained for a period of ten years after the last encounter. You have the right to access your record and request corrections to your personal health information at any time.

6. Emergency Disclaimer: NTA Therapy is not a crisis or emergency service. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or are at risk of harm, please call 9–1–1 immediately or visit the nearest hospital emergency department.
